Welcome, Veterans, Active Military, and family members! To begin your journey at SOU, we have created a general guide below to help you get started. Veterans and Military Family Resources are standing by to assist you as you work through this process.
1. Apply for Admission
Apply for admission to SOU. Connect with the Equity Coordinator to discuss the enrollment process, and learn about the next steps as you move forward.

2. Apply for Benefits
Apply for benefits (as applicable):
- Access VA education benefits here
- View State or Federal TA (USAF TA, Army TA, Navy/Marine TA, Coast Guard), or other benefit programs
- FAFSA and SOU Financial Aid Information
3. Submit Military Documents with Application
Submit all required admissions documents and transcripts. For a review of previous military training, students should also have an official copy of their military transcript sent to SOU.
4. Contact Your Student Success Coordinator
Contact your Student Success Coordinator (Advisor) based on your area of study. Click here to connect with your SSC.
5. Review Benefits Programs

6. Connect with the VMF study space and team!
Find your study space in the VMF! The Veterans & Military Family study space is located in Stevenson Union, room 301. Highlights of the space include:
- Great place to connect with other students
- Free coffee
- Study, work on a paper, prepare for a presentation
- Print a short reading for class
- Relax in between classes
