What Stands Between Us
Each year, the Racial Justice Team hosts “What Stands Between Us”, a flashcard based conversation starter, as a means of creating dialogue at the intersections of Race & all other identities. Having questions in hand allows participants to ask questions (even the hardest questions) without having to feel shame or regret. Many participants walk away with a deeper understanding of who they are in relation to others of differing identities.
BIPoC Power Hour
Biweekly gatherings of students, faculty, staff, and other community members of color. This affinity based program allows members to talk openly about the realities of living, learning, and operating within a historically white serving region. This is a time for folks to chat, network, and discover how to not thrive in the region but also how to engage with the Rogue Valley community. This is an affinity space for BIPoC community members.
Get Fit Program
This fun fitness program is designed to connect members of the SOU community with like minded individuals who are looking for ways to improve their overall health in a thoughtful and holistic manner. Participants may hike, kayak, pedal, meditate, play volleyball, or just hit the weights. Who knows! The group decides the plan at the beginning of each term and rolls out from there.
RJT Out & About
Every community needs an “out…outside” program that is. The RJT hosts an outdoor adventure style get together. Join us on a hike, fishing trip, walk about, or even biking. This will be a great time to explore the great outdoors of southern Oregon with like-minded friends.
